2014Horse Show Rules
The purpose of these rules is to bring order and safety for those who are using the arena.
Property Rules
1. No parking in designated horse only areas.
2. No alcohol allowed on the premises.
3. Contestants may enter each event multiple times.
4. Horses may be ridden more than once in the same class, see points rule #6 for further details.
5. Dragging of the arena will be determined by an arena staff member, based on the number of entries in the class and ground condition.
6. Unsportsmanlike conduct displayed in an event or on the premises by any contestant, any contestant’s parent/guardian, or spectator can result in a disqualification of the contestant and can lead to that person being asked to leave the premises.
7. There will be no talking to the announcer, timekeeper, or any of the arena staff that is inside the arena while an event is in progress.
8. Decisions of the arena staff are final. NO EXCEPTIONS.
9. A contestant will be turned out and given a no score/no time after they have been called a maximum of three times to compete and they are making no attempt towards the arena.
10. If you have any comments, suggestions, or concerns please see an arena staff member or drop it in the comment box located at the concession stand. Also please refrain from negativity on any form of social media.
11. No unauthorized vehicles in the arena.
Point Series Rules
1. To be eligible for points you must pay membership fee.
· Membership fee: $35 single, $50 family (which includes; mother, father, children)
2. Points will be given in the following events:
· Stake Race
· Quads
· Pole Bending
· Barrels
· Arena Race
3. We will pay out 1st through 5th place:
· 1st gets 5 points
· 2nd gets 4 points
· 3rd gets 3 points
· 4th gets 2 points
· 5th gets 1 point
4. Show Dates are as follows:
· February 15, 2014
· March 15, 2014
· April 19, 2014
· May 17, 2014
· June 21, 2014
· August 16, 2014 CANCELED because of heat.
· September 20, 2014
· October 18, 2014
· November 15, 2014
5. Award Night is tentatively scheduled for December 13, 2014
6. A horse CAN be ridden in the same age division IF you are signed up under the same family membership.
7. Contestants must compete in each event at 6 or more shows, out of the 8, to be eligible for year-end awards in that event. (Example: If you ride Barrels in 6 shows and Quads in 4 shows then you are only eligible for awards in Barrels because you did not ride in Quads 6 times.
8. Points will NOT be kept in the 10 & under classes. All contestants who compete in 2 of the 10 & under events (Barrels, Stakes, Quads, Poles, Arena Race) at 6 or more shows in this group will receive year end awards.
9. Points will be kept in 11-17 and Adults.
10. There will be NO points for the open classes.
11. To be eligible for HIGH POINTS you MUST compete in 30 Events out of the 40 eligible events but all 40 events will be eligible for calculation of points.
12. Contestants can run in a higher age division but cannot go lower than their age division.
13. All announced scores/times are unofficial. Official results will be recorded on judges’/secretary’s sheets and payoff/points will be determined from those sheets.
14. Points will be accumulated by the rider not by horse.
15. Rider MAY ride multiple times in one class but will only be given points once. Rider will get points on the BEST time.
16. In the event of a tie, the contestants must be present and they get to decide whether to do a run off or flip a coin. If under 18 a parent or guardian must be present. ALL TIMES ARE BROKEN AT THE FINAL SHOW!
Ole’ Magnolia Arena Patterns & Event Rules
Dash
The horse must start between the road and the 2 orange post.
Stakes
Runners may run a right or left handed pattern. A 5-second penalty will be added for each pole knocked over. If you DO NOT cross back between the 2 cones it is a NO TIME. A broke pattern will be determined by an arena staff member.
Quads
Runners may run a right or left handed pattern. A 5-second penalty will be added for each pole knocked over. If you DO NOT cross back between the 2 cones it is a NO TIME. A broken pattern will be determined by an arena staff member.
Pole Bending
Runners may run a right or left handed pattern. A 5-second penalty will be added for each pole knocked over. If 3 or more poles are knocked over a NO TIME will be given. Recrossing start/finish line before completion of the pattern or breaking the pattern will result in a no time. Broken pattern will be determined by an arena staff member.
Barrel Racing
Runners may run a right or left handed pattern. A 5-second penalty will be added for each barrel knocked over. If a barrel is knocked over and stands up on the end, this is considered a knocked over barrel. Recrossing start/finish line before completion of the pattern or breaking the pattern will result in a no time. Broken pattern will be determined by an arena staff member.
**Jackpot Barrels**
Runners may run a right or left handed pattern. A NO TIME will be given if a barrel is knocked over. If a barrel is knocked over and stands up on the end, this is considered a knocked over barrel. . Common Fun Timed Events
Buddy Pickup
Pickup contestant must be picked up from on the barrel or hay. The horse must go around the barrel or hay bale. Each contestant must be straddle the horse, not carried, due to safety.
Potato Race
Runner must go around the barrel. Potato has to make it in the bucket to get a time. Rider must be in the saddle when crossing the timers or a no time. An arena staff member makes the final call.
Panty Race
Runner must go around the barrel. Both feet must be in the panties. Rider must make a valid attempt to have the panties around their waist. Rider must be in the saddle when crossing the timers or a no time will be given.
Keyhole Race
Rider runs their horse into the arena. Stop inside a keyhole shape, made out of flour. Rider must turn their horse around without stepping on or over the lines. Rider then runs back to cross timer line. An arena staff member makes the final call.
Pony Express
Arena staff member will give the rider a flag at the gate. Runner rides down to mailbox and dismounts horse. Runner puts flag in mailbox and takes out opposite color flag. Runner must make a valid attempt to close the mailbox. Runner remounts horse. Runner must have flag when crossing the timer line. An arena staff member makes the final call. Rider must be in the saddle when crossing the timers or a no time will be given
RULES FOR ALL OTHER FUN EVENTS WILL BE POSTSED ON REGISTRATION WINDOW IF THEY ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRESENT SHOW!
