Westside Community Center was built after Hurricane Katrina on the site of the old Magnolia School in the
Magnolia community. It is Westside's goal to provide activities for the citizens and families of western
Stone County and all of the surrounding areas. The center interior is only partially complete at this
time, though as a result of hard work and dedicated effort by our members and other volunteers
the inside is beginning to take shape. The interior rooms are almost all completely formed
& operational; the conference room is furnished with a large conference table the
main room has had some ungraded of new base boards and shutters leading
into the kitchen area. The main room is furnished with white folding
tables and chairs. The bathrooms are fully operational and have
been remodeled. The kitchen is operational but continuing
to be upgraded. The office is complete. The gymnasium
has new lighting installed to accommodate more
events and is being used for many activities at
this time. It still needs some upgrades,
to include air conditioning.
In 2023 the voted to go back to the original roots and change the name back to Magnolia Community Center.
Outside, we have several things that might catch your interest:
•We have two ballfields functional and ready for games. We are working on getting lights put up on the fields
so games can be played after dark. Also beside the ballfields is a fully operational concession stand with
restrooms that include a covered area for people to enjoy their food in the shade.
•We have a wonderful outdoor arena with concession stand and announcer stand that
is used for Horseshows, 4-D Barrel Runs, and clinics to help riders learn
how to ride better. In the past we have also held Points Series
for all in the community to become involved in.
•Lastly, we have a quarter mile paved walking track that has been installed
for everyone to use. The walking track is lighted for night use.
Some future goals for Magnolia Community Center include:
•Completion of interior rooms; the kitchen and additional bathrooms and to install air conditioning in the entire facility inside.
In addition to our free or low cost events, we rent out the center facilities as a venue for wedding receptions, showers, parties, benefits, etc.
•Construction of more athletic fields to include softball and soccer. The ultimate goal is to provide
tournament-ready athletic fields that are safe, attractive, and fun!
•Construction of a playground for the kids in the community. Our goal as a center is to provide
a safe, attractive, and fun outdoor area for the entire family to enjoy!
We are getting there, but we could sure use your help!
